First few attempts:
We were trying to CC everything as much as possible... We killed nothing
We tried to kill pets first.... we killed nothing
We were stacked in close together... we killed nothing

Last few attempts:
We laxed off CC and focused dps more on one target... we killed one
We spread out... Lived longer and killed one
We locked down the druid with one person!... we killed one

Vordin has been on a successful 5v5 team and their first order of buisness in any match was either to focus all dps on the healer, or lock down the healer and focus all dps on another dps. Since we have multiple healers, lock em and burn one. When we tried this way we were successful in killing one and almost 2!

Lead and Faeodan have done this fight successfully before... their ideas should be taken into concideration and tried. If I've never downed a boss and I go in with someone who has... Im doing what the guy who has killed em says to do... I know we're bouncing ideas around on here which is awesome

but lets not cut our nose to spite our face...

I also agree with Faeo on the aspect that this fight can only be planned so far ahead... Arena fighting isn't something thats routine or plotted... there's a reason why everyone needs to be on vent to call things out because even though you may know how to tend to an opposing class... you dont know whose the weakest played or the one whose going to cause the most trouble! This fight is about thinking fast, communication on vent, and observation during the fight.

Mostly this fight is about survival and to each their own. I agree also that ppl need to use their own spells to save their own ass. Shackle, Blink, Roots, Traps, Stuns, Banish, anything thats available to you when something comes running at you. Keeping yourself alive is most important! The npcs seem to have a short attention span so you just need to do this long enough till they find someone else to pick on.

I have no opinion on which one goes down first. I do want to support what has been working for us and what hasn't been working. When we lightened up on CC and focussed dps... we made progress.

Its just going to take practice as this fight is out of realm for most ppl who dont do arenas or have familiarity with PVP. And Im rusty as hell! lol

In every group I've been successful in, the first order of business is always to kill a healer and using all cooldowns to get it done asap. The shaman healer should never be the first kill target. His heals can be dps'ed through as long as earthshield is always purged.

Second and third kill targets should be either one or two melee before going to another healer. Those are the guys that wipe the raid. All you really need for cc is on their healers. Tanks can keep some of the heavy hitters busy while the first healer is being focused.

Just my 2 cents from what I've seen in here.

We are very very close. More dispels, and the clothies running away BEFORE the Rogue/Warrior/Shammy/DK starts hitting them, and we win.

Don't just stand there and just keep mashing your primary nuke/Heal buttons. Keep looking around and move if someone is heading towards you.

I agree with a try at taking the Palli down first. I've been on her interrupts enuff to see that she is pretty hard to keep tied up long enuff to get enough other sobs down.
Certainly worth a try.

Nice thinking on this fight Faeoden, please keep it up.

I know we can do this boss. Once we come up with a progressive plan and stick to it so we can all get some honest practice in,

THESE JERKS ARE GOING DOWN!

More ideas:

For the 25-man I'm thinking we should have 2 DKs go full tank spec and stick one on the warrior and one on the Ret pally or Shammy. They then just keep those 2 away from everyone else.

Shiv seems to keep the Tree occupied pretty well.

Joe and I had a hard time keeping the Pally locked, but that may have been due to Joe DCing. Once he adjusted his video settings, we had switched to killing the pally first.

So anyway... We have 2 of the melee away from us and occupied, if there's a Rogue, he's not being focused on, so we should have one mage toss a sheep at him occasionally while they are dpsing our kill target.

Each fight we need to assign focus targets. CC your guy right around when the initial fear is wearing off. Then once again when the first kill target gets to 40% health.

Priest Heal-
Druid Heal-
Shammy heal-
Pally Heal -

Rogue - 1st kill target after 1-2 healers. Should be assigned a Mage for focus.
Warrior - A DK pull him away
Ret - A DK pull him away
DK - A DK pull him away
Enhance- A DK pull him away

Warlock - Mage and/or Druid focus
Mage - Mage and/or Druid focus
Boomkin - Mage and/or Druid focus
S-Priest - Mage and/or Druid focus

Hunter-

Once 2 healers are down, we are left with 7 npcs running around, and 1 being killed. At this point, all "normal" cc should stop. Everyone except for the DKs keeping the melee busy should focus on A.) the kill target, B.) CC or survival from anyone coming at you.

Oh, and pets need to be kept on passive and stuck on whatever target you want them to be on. We had all kinds of cc broken by pets last night. Some not controllable..but still.

I have spent the morning watching videos and reading a ton of literature on this fight. The one thing I have noticed being mentioned in most of what I have seen and read is that a prot warrior would help alot in this fight. Again, everywhere I look I see prot warrior mentioned. Maybe we should try bringing a prot warrior to this fight. Do we even have one?

The world is full of people that think they are more important than they really are. No human being is more important than another. Accept that, and you might find yourself a little happier.
Prot warrior is arguably the best "CC" for the rogue. Bleed from rend = no vanish. Hamstring is also huge if they are willing to stance dance. All types of snares and slowing affects on the melee are helpful. Having two tank specced players of any kind helps in this fight to keep two of the melee guys off the rest of the group (for the most part, I know it's hard to keep them the entire time).

I think we're surviving longer because people are starting to realize you gotta run, can't just stand still and cast the whole time. Personally, I stand near the hunter and kite the guys chasing me through his frost traps.

I also think that with the comp we have this week, after killing the pally, we need to move to a dps and leave the shaman alone. The shamans heals are really a non issue as long as the Earthshields are dispelled/purged. While we were going after the shaman 2nd, the rest of the raid was being wiped by their heavy hitters.

If we have tanky types keeping 2 melee occupied, I highly suggest we take out the rogue asap. Shadowstep onto a clothie can easily = a dead clothie. Especially if it's during a fear.

When I went bear and focused on the warrior i think he only got off 2 blade storms, and both were short lived.
